A warm rustic kitchen we built this past summer

With this kitchen my goal was to create a cute rustic aesthetic with a few unique elements and of course with three boys utility is a basic requirement.
I really love the cabinets near the windows with glass doors attached to the sides. It helps get a little extra light into the kitchen and you can open it from the side which is just a cool feature.
We did 42'' upper cabinets with riser and cove crown to the ceiling. We also hid the microwave in the pantry at the end of the run which did require moving a power outlet. Personally, I don't think microwaves are very nice to look at and we considered a pull-out microwave that fits in the base cabinets but the microwaves for those are over $1,000 so I'm glad we came up with the pantry solution. The island is called Blaze Black and it's also shaker style. Shakers tend to have the most color options otherwise I would have done a raised panel. I still need to replace the faucet, and I will get to that eventually.
For the window treatment I searched and found a beige roman shade and hung it about 6 inches above the height of the window to trick the eye into thinking it's a larger window. And I bought a cute little hanging light from amazon which I think is just the perfect amount and color of light to bring in some more warmth.
Things I would add and change
More unique handles. Maybe something with chickens or bulkier somehow. A new faucet, I just havn't gotten around to it yet. A hanging bar for cooking utensils on the back wall.

All in all I really love this kitchen I think I'm improving how I choose things every time even if it takes a few mistakes. If I had to do it again I think I'd make the island just a little smaller length and width wise because I feel like it blocks how beautiful the back wall is. Or I'd had invested in a custom built island in some random fun color from etsy or some other store because I feel like that would have looked more rustic and give a lot of personality. But my husband put this kitchen together and that's most all the personality I need.
and THIS FARMHOUSE SINK is really cool I got it for around $200 and it came with a draining rack, another little draining bin, and a stainless steel bottom rack for protecting the bottom of the sink from scratches. And I've had farmhouse sinks get scratched up all over the bottom before so I'm really happy they included that rack. It has a cool design on the front of it and it's reversable so if I had wanted the face to be plain I can just turn it around. And for the price I'm very happy with it.
The backsplash is a cream colored lattice pattern 4 x 4 tile from and Annie Selke colection at the Tile Shope. Which I plan on jazzing up later by adding a copper bar for hanging coffee cups and utensils. I could have gone with some more interesting options but I'm pretty shy about backsplash because it is a very permanent fixture.
Half of the island is just open with turned post legs and I usually keep two counter-height chairs there. Except for lately my one year old has learned to climb up them and onto the counter but once that phase has passed the chairs will be back. Having a sort-second dining area is really useful and works well for buffet style meals when the kids have a party or family comes over.
